Discussing my passion love for fashion usually is addressed to two different audiences: people who get it and people who don’t. Okay, and I guess there’s usually some people in between too. But I think this is a topic we all can relate to – either discussing with someone that we love fashion or not understanding those “fashion people.” In effort to continue opening up, today I’m writing about why I truly love fashion and why it means so much to me.
1. “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak”
Growing up, I definitely was more of an introvert. What I lacked in speaking up in class or talking to boys, I could express through my outfit. I found that wearing a standout piece gave me confidence and often spoke for itself. I made a statement with my outfit more than my words.
2. Fashion lets me be whoever I want to be
That sounds a little cliché, but it’s true. I love that fashion lets me be (maybe appear) like anyone I want. I feel like you can even see this through my blogging. I bounce around a lot between different styles because I love experimenting and I find inspiration from so many different sources.
3. Helping Others
While I love dressing myself, I might love dressing other people even more. A stylish, well fitting outfit can transform a person’s outlook on them self, life, and their potential. Bridging the gap between a person I care about and a lonely dress on a hanger gives me pure joy. Nothing is better than seeing someone feel amazing because they look amazing!
4. Fashion directly impacts my productivity
If I could graph it, you would see a direct correlation between my happiness and productivity based on the quality of my outfit. While this doesn’t apply for every single day, in general dressing well helps me be more focused, productive, and willing to take on new challenges. The feeling I get from wearing an outfit I love fuels me to accomplish more.
5. Fashion is art you can live in
There are endless forms of creativity – painting, playing music, writing, graphic design….but with fashion, it goes everywhere with you…and on you. There’s no need to wait and show someone a design or listen to your music because they can immediately see your creativity. It’s draped on your shoulders or hanging from your ears. Living everyday with my creative outlet literally on my sleeve is amazing!

The pink eyelet blouse I’m wearing is from Zara. I couldn’t find it online, but it is currently in stores. I was provided the Coach Swagger 21 bag and all opinions are my own.
