It’s finally March! If you couldn’t tell from my last post, I’m completely ready for spring. I’m going to be real with you now, these pictures are basically the first time weeks that I’ve actually planned an outfit and done my hair and makeup. I’m sure you know the feeling where life seems just too busy to manage looking fashionable too. The day in day out, 9 to 5, same shoes everyday kind of feeling. (But seriously I’m about to burn my black booties.)
Luckily just as I was about to permanently attach my umbrella to my hand, the first signs of spring arrived and life seemed to gain new energy!
Dressing for spring in Seattle requires a sort of “finesse.” It’s an art trying to find an outfit that can handle unpredictable weather changes. For me, that means reworking some of my winter clothes in with my spring wardrobe. In fact, apart from my shoes and accessories, I’ve blogged all of these pieces before (pants, vest, top).
I wanted to show you a look that eases into spring. We’re not quite at the jumbo floral print maxi dress stage yet so we usually settle for something in the middle. Lately, I’ve been drawn to minimalist fashion. It’s sleek, chic, and timeless. However for me, the monochromatic color tones can be a little bit of a downer – especially after months of gray skies. I chose to give black and white outfit a breath of life with standout accessories – blue drop earrings, a fringe bag, studded t-strap heels, and obviously some bright blue nail polish.
Sometimes life can serve us too many rainy days, long work hours, and a general feeling of unfabulousness. No one said these times are easy, but they aren’t permanent. As I experienced a few “gray” weeks, it’s an amazing feeling to come out on the other side and in a great outfit. The clouds are parting, the sun is starting the shine, and cherry blossoms are blooming. A new season and wardrobe are coming and that should put some spring in your step!
