In Seattle, it feels far from spring. The closest I’ve gotten to seeing sunlight is the tiny gleam from the highlighter I press onto my cheekbones in the morning. That’s not to say I’m not hopeful because nothing lifts my spirits like spring fashion! And I will start shopping for spring clothes now so that on the glorious day the sun pops out, I will be ready. Don’t lose hope yet because you can start shopping these spring 2017 fashion trends now!
1. Raw Hem Denim
A trend you won’t miss this spring are jeans with a raw hem or frayed hem. I absolutely love the raw hem denim trend because it adds a casual, street style look to your outfit without having holes in your jeans…aka you can wear them at work without looking unprofessional!
2. Corset Belts
Corset belts surfaced from the runway and then introduced by celebrities like Kylie Jenner and Gigi Hadid. While I’m still not sure I can pull off this spring trend, corset belts are really versatile and can be worn with dresses, chunky sweaters, or sweatshirts.
3. Embroidery
Embroidery continues to evolve since debuting in fall 2016. I’m obsessed with embroidery because it makes styling the rest of your outfit so easy! Embroidery adds a unique, eye catching statement to your look and all you need are some simple pieces to complete your outfit. I’m excited to shop for both elaborately and minimally embroidered pieces this spring.
4. Slide Sandals
Slide sandals are not just for wearing in the gym shower anymore. Designers like Givenchy and Prada introduced slide sandals in their spring 2017 collections so we know this trend is verified ;) Embrace a trend that is completely comfortable and chic certified.
5. Statement Stripes
Statement stripes covered the runways from designers like Alexander Wang and Fendi and emerged as one of the predominant spring 2017 fashion trends. Let your stripes make a statement with bold color, coordinating pieces (shown above), or varying widths. If you’re cautious to wear this trend, try vertical stripes to add length to your body!
6. Culottes
Culottes are another great trend that can be worn on the weekend and at the office. I love the vast range of culottes that come tailored, pleated, metallic, and printed. For those petite ladies (like me) don’t be afraid to get culottes tailored to fit more proportionally.
Casual paired with street style outfit is the new trend, make sure to have cicihot clothing!
