As many recent college graduates realize, the wardrobe you wore in college does not always translate into “the real world.” We all know the backless top that guaranteed free drinks all night, does not work post frat parties. And let’s be real, we are thankful we’re not there anymore.
In college, I usually found myself looking for trendy, fast fashion. A year later, I look for pieces that will stay in style, last longer, and can be worn into multiple seasons. Cue, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Nordstrom fashion at sale prices…let’s just say I didn’t get to freeze my credit card in time.
I looked for the pieces to be the building blocks of my wardrobe – hello leather jacket and black dress. This is literally the easiest outfit to put together.
A leather jacket should be in every woman’s wardrobe. Yes, that’s a bold statement and yes, I thought it through. This faux leather jacket has a silky interior and fits perfectly (I got an extra small). The black hardware allows for easy matching for silver or gold jewelry. I love that this Leith black dress can be worn at work, during the daytime, or a night out – it’s not too tight or short. Plus, the leather jacket will make you feel like a bad ass.
Jacket – Dress – Sunglasses – Shoes
This look is so easy to put together and I swear to you, it will look good any body type. I was running late this day and did this daytime smokey eye in about 10 minutes – all you need is a smear of grey shadow and some liquid liner.
There you have it, a casual black dress, black leather jacket, a 10 minute smokey eye…and bam! The easiest outfit that transcends seasons, trends, and definitely your college wardrobe.
I love this look. That dress is very flattering. I also like the smokey eye. You look stunning.
