7 Fall 2016 Fashion Trends You Can Actually Wear

It’s September 1st and like clockwork the weather is cool and I’m wearing my leather jacket and black booties once again. While I’m definitely mourning the deflation of my doughnut inner tube, I am looking forward to fall..particularly fall fashion trends!   Thankfully, what starts on the runway makes its way to the street in a more wearable form. So, welcome falling leaves and a PSL (yeah I said it) with some of my favorite wearable fall 2016 fashion trends that you can easily rock this autumn.

1. Mules

A high heel and a clog walked into a bar and 10 years later the mule was born. Half high heel, half clog, and even part slipper, the mule is the new it girl shoe. I personally love the mule and am already looking forward to not getting blisters on my heels.

2. Pleats

Inspired by Gucci, Ferragamo, and Fendi Fall 2016 runway shows, you’ll find a plethora of pleats this autumn, most notably in the classic midi skirt. I love the pleat trend because it easily transitions from the workplace to the weekend. T

3. Velvet

Maybe it’s my inner gymnast that is always reminded of my old leotards when I see velvet but, I’m so excited for this trend! Try a solid, dark velvet for a traditional look or crushed velvet for a trendier feel.

4. Embellished Handbag Straps

The embellished handbag strap might be the new Fendi bag bug. I love this trend! It’s such a fun way to add multiple looks to one bag. This trend has yet to make its way out of the designer world so embellished/guitar handbag straps are a little pricey. However, a this trend is the perfect DIY!

5. Slip Dresses

One of the most wearable fall 2016 fashion trends is the the slip dress! The nineties made a comeback with the choker and now the slip dress! The slip dress is a simple item that allows endless styling options. Add a scarf, blazer, boots, or a chunky cardigan to avoid the “I’m wearing lingerie” look.

5.5 Slip Dresses with T-Shirts

Directly related to the slip dress is the slip dress worn over a t-shirt trend. Wearing a tee under the slip dress makes for a super trendy, fashion forward look. I also recommend wearing a body suit under the slip dress to avoid bunchy layering.

6. Reconstructed/Patchwork Denim

The ongoing denim trend continues with the new twist of patchwork or different denim tones sewn together. This new denim look is a great way to add interest to your outfit and mix up your classic denim.

7. Metallics

I love the metallic trend because it’s not flashy glitter or sequins. Take inspiration from Dolce & Gabbanna and Alexander McQueen and add some sophisticated shine to your wardrobe. I predict the metallic pleated skirt is going to be huge this fall!
